electromagnetic radiation

health hazards of mobile phone

it is common knowledge that electromagnetic fields are emitted by mobile phones

this leads to the following

  • headaches,
  • extreme irritation,
  • forgetfulness
  • and decreased flexes

does cell phone cause brain tumour?

acoustic neuroma (a nerve tumor in the ear) -if used for more than ten years- scientific evidence points in favour of this causal association.

ionising and non ionising radiation

ionising -Very high levels of electromagnetic energy, such as is found in X-rays and gamma rays, can ionize biological tissues,

non ionising-The energy levels associated with radio frequency energy, including both radio waves and microwaves, are not great enough to cause the ionization of atoms and molecules."

Though there is no evidence of cell phones causing cancer or any such illness, but the suspicion, or fear of the same is not baseless either. The electromagnetic radiation from cell phones does have a potential link to cancer

Mobile Phones and Children

Because of their smaller heads, thinner skulls and higher tissue conductivity, children may absorb more energy from a given phone than adults

does mobile phone interfere with life saving devices?

RF energy from wireless phones can interact with some electronic devices

does cell phone cause traffic accidents?

New England Journal of Medicine study from 2001 found that drivers using cell phones were four times more likely to get into accidents than non-cell phone users. A 2005 study by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found that six percent of drivers actively used hand-held phones -- roughly one million people

potential hazards of cell phone

  • emissions from mobile phones can disable a safety barrier in blood causing proteins and toxins to leak into the brain
  • this can increase chances of developing Alzheimer's multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's. (Scientists at Sweden's Lund University)
  • Scientists say exposure to the phones' low-level radiation causes red blood cells to leak hemoglobin and can lead to heart disease and kidney stones.
  • microwaves could ignite petroleum fumes at gas stations.

· A cell phone unit, or communications tower, has so many of these radiation emanating gadgets. This can be a problem for environment

BASE STATIONS WITH POWERED ANTENNAES SHOULD NOT BE LOCATED NEAR CILDREN SCHOOLS AND PLAY GROUNDS

NO TOWER SHOULD BE NEAR GAS AN FUELLING STATIONS

WHO - recommendations

  • Mobile phone users should limit their exposure to harmful radio frequencies by cutting the length of calls.
  • Hands-free devices cut exposure by keeping the instrument away from the head and body.
  • Driving cum mobile phone talking should be banned.
  • Mobile phones should not be used in Intensive Care Units of hospitals as they can pose a danger to patients by interfering with the working of pacemakers and defibrillators.
  • People with hearing aids should not use mobile phones.

Tinyteddy, I found your article interesting. I have been building radio/tv , cell sites since the mid 90's. Some of your article I can agree with, per the cellular side I'm not positive it gives off enough energy to cause harm. Now on the other hand the broadcast side radio and television towers and antenna's put out anywhere from 25,000 -100,000 Watts of power. Working on a hot tower engineers do not like to reduce power while it is being worked on for the obvious fact the viewer/ listener range is cut down considerably. When working on these towers one should protect themselves with a zuit suit, mylar suit type material put on over clothing to help reflect waves of radiation. As far as the cell phone causing an explosion at a gas station is highly unlikely. Most gas station explosions caused by static electricity when exiting vehicle. With the driver not being grounded causes a spark which might cause a fire.
